— Engage to improve: driving change through local, national and international collaboratives —

12 January 2022, London (UK): ImproveWell LTD (“ImproveWell” or “the Company”) is proud to be recognised as a finalist for “Workforce and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year” in the HSJ Partnership Awards 2022. A list of the finalists can be accessed here and winners will be announced on 24 March.

With pre-pandemic pressure on the health and social care workforce already high, burnout risk following the worst health crisis the NHS has faced since its establishment is extremely high. Being proactive as well as reactive in supporting the workforce and the wellbeing of individuals has never been more important. Looking further towards patient safety, supporting staff to deliver the best possible care is crucial. Judges in the Workforce and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year award category were therefore looking for:

  • ambitious projects which can demonstrate an effective approach with pre-determined goals which had clear benefits for staff, the teams that manage workforce and delivery of services;
  • evidence that consultative measures were taken to inform and develop initiatives with real impact;
  • partnerships which have the potential to be picked up elsewhere or have already been copied and applied in other organisations; and
  • proof of enhanced communication between stakeholders which has led to better relations and ultimately better service delivery.

The ImproveWell solution is a digital tool for participatory change: creating the right environment for staff wellbeing and continuous improvement in healthcare by empowering staff and key stakeholders to drive change. Pioneered and shaped in partnership with East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) to facilitate systematic and scalable implementation of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Framework for Improving Joy in Work, application of the tool has spread from supporting ELFT’s local programme to supporting national and international collaboratives. ImproveWell’s data-driven, evidence-based approach is demonstrated by case studies from four organisations using the ImproveWell solution over the past two years, published in a peer-reviewed article[1].

Lara Mott, CEO and Co-founder of ImproveWell, said: “We are keen to raise awareness of our pioneering partnership with ELFT to demonstrate how the use of improvement science and a simple digital solution can improve staff experience and wellbeing at work. ELFT’s Enjoying Work programme has inspired a national Enjoying Work partnership with the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), which in turn inspired an international partnership to support IHI’s latest Joy in Work collaborative.

“One of our core values is to build data-driven, evidence-based solutions; results over the past two years, from multiple organisations in different healthcare settings, are testament to this approach. We would like to thank ELFT for the significant investment in our partnership; to highlight the fantastic results from our partner organisations; and commend RCPsych and IHI for encouraging spread.

“Huge congratulations to all the finalists, we are honoured to feature amongst such an esteemed group and are excited for the celebrations in March.”

Insights from wider stakeholder groups can also be tapped via customisable online portals. An intelligent data dashboard helps group and organisational leads to capture real-time data, track workforce sentiment, prioritise quality improvement efforts, measure change and publish reports to complete the feedback loop.

But ImproveWell is not just a technology solution: a dedicated Customer Success team provides consultative onboarding and ongoing advice. Furthermore, customers can join a community of healthcare improvers offering opportunities for collaboration and sharing best practice.
