Operose Health and ImproveWell partner to prioritise primary care staff feedback
29 January 2025
Operose Health is launching a three-year programme with real-time feedback platform ImproveWell to better engage with its primary care workforce and share best practice, marking the first time an organisation has rolled out a national workforce initiative like this in primary care.
ImproveWell will be used in Operose Health’s 82 primary care sites encompassing GP practices, Primary Care Hubs, Emergency Department Streaming Services and Urgent Care Services across the UK. The programme aims to share best practice across sites – particularly where excellent ideas are flying under the radar because teams see them as ‘standard practice’.
Samantha Kane, Operose Health’s CEO, said: “Our primary care services are busy places to work, and we want to invest in listening to our colleagues to continuously improve patient care.
“Colleagues working in our primary care services know and understand our patients, neighbourhoods and communities the best. They understand what patients need and how we can improve the care that we provide. Each and every time I visit one of Operose Health’s services, I see so many examples where individual teams have implemented something amazing that improves patient access, outcomes and experience. I want our teams to be empowered to share their incredible ideas with their colleagues across the country.
“This is why I am delighted to bring ImproveWell to Operose Health. Implementing ImproveWell means our teams have a way to share their ideas on a national scale, and senior clinical and operational colleagues have an easy way to review and analyse great ideas that can benefit over 700,000 patients.”
Dr Lucy Goodeve-Docker, Operose Health’s Senior Regional Medical Director for London explains more about the impact ImproveWell will have on patient care.
“Patients are at the heart of what we do, and improving their care is always in the forefront of our minds. One of the huge benefits of being part of Operose Health is the scale in which we can share great ideas that make a real difference to the lives of our patients. An idea shared by a team, in say Yorkshire, might help us solve a problem in South London.
“This insight and having the ability to look at these ideas in a quick and easy format, is a powerful tool. I’m excited to use ImproveWell in our services to see how we can further enhance our work on reducing healthcare inequalities and improving outcomes for local people.”
ImproveWell was created by an NHS doctor for NHS services, to improve care locally and nationally. In 2016, Dr Na’eem Ahmed (now Chief Medical Officer for ImproveWell) noticed his colleagues on the frontline had the best ideas for improving an overstretched NHS, and his idea for a frontline feedback and quality improvement smartphone app went on to become ImproveWell.
Lara Mott, CEO and Co-Founder of ImproveWell, said: “ImproveWell is a proven and trusted platform across health and care. Now, as part of a pioneering three-year partnership, it is being taken to primary care on a national scale, where staff need an effective way to share ideas and feedback in a busy working environment. It’s fantastic to see Operose Health leading the way to show the impact it can have in primary care too.”
